Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Foundation for Religious Retirement the same as the National Religious Retirement Office?

The Foundation for Religious Retirement only raises funds and supports Women Religious with Motherhouses located in the Milwaukee Archdiocese. The National Religious Retirement Office serves Religious Communities on a national level.

Does the Foundation for Religious Retirement serve Priests and Brothers?

The Foundation for Religious Retirement began in the late 1980s, and at that time, it was decided that only the Women’s Communities would participate in and receive funds raised by the Foundation.

Is the Foundation for Religious Retirement involved with the Combined Collection of the Archdiocese?

The Foundation for Religious Retirement is not involved with the Combined Collection. The Combined Collection includes the National Religious Retirement appeal and our staff helps prepare materials to include in the combined collection information but the funds go directly to the National Religious Retirement Office.

How are donations distributed to the Congregations?

Each June, we distribute the funds we’ve raised throughout the year to the Religious Orders of Women that are members of our organization. The distribution of funds is based on the number of retired Sisters, assets and liabilities of each Congregation. Over 90% of all the funds we raise are distributed to the Religious Orders we serve.

Please join us in creating a meaningful retirement for the Sisters.
